Last week, race-winning BTCC team Ciceley Motorsport have announced a huge update for the upcoming season. Their 2017 campaign will sport a completely fresh look. Adam Morgan, top star of BTCC, will spearhead this campaign in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
His Mercedes will run with a red and black colour scheme, to honour their three-year deal with Mac Tools – their new sponsor. For the past three seasons, Mac Tools have been a subsidiary sponsor of the Ciceley Motorsport squad. This change means the beginning of a new era, with Mac Tools becoming title sponsor for the Accrington-based team. The colour change is a big one – Morgan’s Mercedes-Benz has run in yellow and black since 2014, when it first made its debut with WIX Filters as headline sponsors. WIX are still on board as subsidiary sponsor and will maintain a relationship with the team – including recent wins at Brands Hatch and Thruxton.
Adam Morgan is a four-time race winner in the BTCC. He stated that “[they’ve] worked really closely with the guys at Mac Tools over the last three years, and are delighted to have them as our new title sponsor. The relationship we’ve built and this three-year deal illustrates the commitment the company has to the team and the championship. I can’t wait to stand on the top step of the podium in my Mac Tools overalls for the first time and repay the company’s faith in us.”
Mac Tools Sales Director, Liam Kettlewell, has reported equal enthusiasm on their part. “We are thrilled to step up our involvement in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with Ciceley Motorsport. We have seen the team go from strength-to-strength during the past three years and now is the time to maximise our relationship with them by becoming title sponsor.”
Norman Burgess, Ciceley Motorsport’s Commercial Director has also expressed his joy over the new deal. “We started off as a little family team after Adam won the Ginetta Supercup title and have grown from a garage at Adam’s home to purpose-built facilities with a BTCC and Renault Clio team.” He further went on to mention the importance of such a huge name as Mac Tools becoming the title sponsors, cementing the future of the racing team. Their goal, Burgess stated, is to eventually become a manufacturing team. This means that having Mac Tools as a sponsor is a huge step forward for them. Burgess also commented on the continuing relationship they have built with WIX Filters, mentioning that they too have played a key part in the success of Ciceley Motorsport.
Last week, on Saturday (March 4th), the new look was unveiled at Silverstone, to an audience of Mac Tools franchises and other guests. It’s ready to go on track, at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Season Launch at Donington Park – on March 16. Opening rounds of the championship will take place at Brands Hatch in 1 & 2 April.…
After a series of pre-season tests, which took over the past three weeks, Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship team Handy Motorsport are ready for the annual Media Day at Donington Park – to be held next Tuesday.
The squad is in high spirits, and for good reason. Their star driver, Rob Austin, has seven BTCC campaigns behind him, at the wheel of a Toyota Avensis. Austin has led Handy Motorsport onto their first BTCC podiums, as well as other trophies won in 2016. The experienced driver states that he’s never been as prepared as he is now for a touring car season.
“I’m really, really happy with how testing has gone”, he says. “We already know we have fantastic partners on board with Duo and Northgate, as well as our other great sponsors, and I’m absolutely loving working with the Handy Motorsport guys – the Toyota has been running very well indeed.”
The squad has had multiple visits to both tracks, giving them the opportunities to take in as much information as possible regarding the new Dunlop tyre compound, released ahead of the new season.
Austin also had something to say about the tyre: “I’ve never done so many miles pre-season and we’ve learnt a lot about the new Dunlop tyre, we’ve got a good handle on things for qualifying and in race trim and I’m confident we’re developing a strong all-round package.”
Team principal Simon Belcher, who will this year combine his duties in the BTCC paddock and the day-to-day running of Handy Motorsport with participation in the British Jet Sport Championship, is equally satisfied with the pre-season touring car preparation.
“Things are progressing nicely”, said Belcher, “I am trying to make sure we are the most prepared ever for this season, and I am delighted how the team has gelled together and embraced the move of our whole operation to Swindon over the winter.
Following the annual pre-season Media Day next Thursday, 16th March, which provides the only officially timed collective test before the championship curtain-raiser, the opening three rounds of the new BTCC campaign will take place over the weekend 1st/2nd April at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.…
In the year 2017, cars bodywork and tyres will be wider. 8 days will be testing and be held at Barcelona dated on Feb. 27, the drivers will test more than 100 laps.
Many drivers anticipated the physical train, time spent in training, and focusing on strengthening their neck. Perez said at Autosport, that he is sure that when they start testing everyone will be destroyed. After the driver stops driving, they have a couple of months away of it then, when they got back to drive it’s very hard to train the same force and they always suffer at their neck. He expect that everyone in February will be complaining about the neck because the car’s are a bit quicker than the last time.
He said that he will need a bit more muscle exercise when he was asked about he’s training. He also added that he already saw some of the sketch of Force India’s 2017 challenger and he was pretty impressed but he doubt about how it will make improve the show.
He’s concerned more about the challenges in driving the cars and spectacles of it. He doesn’t believe that it will be complex but it will surely demand physically but it is something that the drivers get used to. The anticipated part will be how difficult it would be.
Lucid Motors showed off its first production-intent car which it calls the Air. The company assured that the new car offers a luxury interior and sport-oriented driving, which the production will begin in 2018.
Lucid Motors promise that the new Lucid air electric car has an executive interior 1,000 horsepower. They first showed off its 1st production car which is the air. They used powerful electric drive train, which includes self driving capability and they expected it to hit the road in 2018.
They cited 4 areas that are being focus in the car, which have the following: electrification, autonomous driving, connectivity and ride sharing. They designed the car with all of these capabilities.
